Very poor product This is the second time am buying Nikon products and l am very disappointed with it. I am now stocked with two different cameras that is not working due to lens not coming out and sincerely frustrated about it. Especially when you call the customer service and they give you the run around. I will never buy Nikon products again nor will l recommend it. May 7, 2014
Still works years later.. I first bought the camera along with 2 others the same (as Christmas gifts) in December of 2011. I took mine along with me for the first few months of owning it through military training ventures and captured some great pictures both on and off duty. After returning home around 8 months later, I stored it away and hadn't touched it again until last week (December 2013). The battery had drained of course but a simple recharge and it was good to go again. Snapped a few pics and videos and it works just as good as day 1. Unfortunately for the two I had purchased for others as Christmas gifts along with my own.. Those did not last long at all. Most due to owner misuse and neglect. It's been a good camera for the price. January 3, 2014
Bad Camera Decision I purchased this camera due to its size. Within the first few weeks it stopped working and I had to send it to Nikon for repairs. When it was returned, the camera started putting spots on the pictures. It looked like a dirty lens, but was not. I returned it to Nikon and it was fixed!!! But that only lasted a few months and the spots returned. I figured it was not worth returning. Hopefully this series of camera has been discontinued. September 10, 2013
Still love it! Bought mine back in August 2010 and loved it then & still love it now. This is the first Nikon I have owned and will eventually get a new one. It still takes amazing pictures for me! Back when I bought mine, my niece loved it, so I got her one for Christmas that year. As far as my battery goes, I still have the original battery in mine! With proper care it has lasted a very long time, and yes I do take tons of photos & videos! Plus I use either a 4 or 8 gb memory cards in mine! Would I get another Coolpix camera in the future? Yes, I would! June 15, 2013
LOVED it Bought this camera about two years ago, for a trip in the states, this camera worked amazing. The battery didn't take long to charge, and it lasted for days with a full charge! Pulled it out today as it has been sitting in a box for about 4 months and the battery was still charged! Images were clear and I always got compliments about the pictures that were taken with this camera! A GREAT investment! -- Attached are photos that were taken with the camera! January 23, 2013

Answer:
There is an error in the instructions provided in the User's Manual and Quick Start Guide for the Coolpix S3000 and S4000. The information contained in the manual and guide instruct the user to plug the UC-E6 USB cable into the camera first before plugging into the AC power supply. This process will not switch the camera power on automatically, and you would need to press the ON button yourself to initiate charging. No damage will occur if this is not done correctly, it just will not start charging automatically.

To auto-start the charging process without the need to press the ON button, please follow the steps below in this order:

1 - Connect the USB cable UC-E6 to the Charging AC Adapter EH-68P.
2 - Plug the Charging AC Adapter into an electrical outlet.
3 - Be sure that the camera is turned off and then connect the USB cable UC-E6 to the camera.

When the green LED starts blinking slowly after a few seconds, charging has begun. When the LED goes off, charging is complete.

My camera will no longer charge. The battery is dead and the charge won't work if plugged into the wall or if plugged into the computer. I searched online for answers and this seems to be an issue with the S3000. Do I need a new charger and is this a product defect? I've only had the camera for 6 months and only used it a couple of times.

There is no response at all. Is there a recall for this item? I have owned it for only three months and the tech at Staples where I purchased it said it looked like the camera was shot. Unless this can be resolved, I will definitely not be buying another Nikon product.

I only have two flash modes (auto and off) and even still the flash rarely works when in auto mode. I know I should have more modes, do you know what I can do. Even when the flash is on auto mode it still takes a dark, out of focus picture, with very slow shutter speed. I have already tried "re-setting" factory settings, did nothing. Thanks

I normally use my camera on "auto" picture mode and I noticed that my flash wasn't going off. I assumed this was because I was frequently by the window and perhaps the camera didn't need the flash. However I took a picture in a dimly lit bedroom and the flash still didn't go off. I became curious because the flash was definitly needed in that room.
I mess with some different settings, taking pictures in different rooms and still no flash. I set the camera to flash all setting and the flash still didn't go off.
Is it broken? Or do I just need to change some settings that I haven't thought of.

I believe many of us have attempted the common sense approach to charge this camera's battery and have failed..And have even followed the instructions given in this Forum and failed. I have only used this camera 3 times. The camera is hooked up and ready to be charged but the green light indicator will not illuminate. The camera will not even cut on. This camera is practically new.... I need some help!

When I put my camera to charge the little yellow light blinks slowly three times, then blinks fast and then stops. After 20 mins or so I go back to see if I can turn it on and it still wont. What can it be wrong with it?

I can see this has happened to many other people.
But anyway, I follow all directions I can find, and my camera won't charge, plugging it into the computer or the wall.
What is going on? Do I need to get another charge, or what?

She complained about how bad it was and I didn't believe her at first. I verified her settings were all normal and stabilization and focus assist were on, but no luck. Even when mounted on a tripod it takes very blurry photos. I did a search on the web and it appears to be a common complaint in discussion areas all over. Amazingly it does not appear to be ever mentioned as a problem in your support knowledge base anywhere. What do you suggest we do to resolve our problem?

Answer:
When the battery is fully charged there's no indicator. The battery level indicator will appear on the Top left corner of the screen showing a battery half full, this means its low and you need to prepare to charge it. Once the battery runs out of charge you will get a message on the screen "Battery Exhausted" and you won't be able to take more pictures.

I brought it back to my hotel room, put it on charge woke up to use it again this morning but it won't power on, and the green led is flashing beside the flash icon.

when attaching camera to the computer with the supplied usb cable and battery charge set to auto, the computer stopped recognizing the camera and camera will not come on. Camera works fine, will not connect with computer to transfer pictures (or charge battery) I have the coolpix S3000. I had this problem before and corrected it by setting battery charge from computer to off, but now that fix does not seem to work
