I bought htis camera because my last Nikon,4 years old went haywire.
Very much alike but improved.

I love the ease of use.
I would recommend this camera to everyone I speak too. I love the way the photos come out and with very little knowledge of photography it a great little camera. My brother purchased it for me and it is the best gift one can receive.

This is a WONDERFUL camera
I absolutely loved this camera. It never once failed me and it was so easy to use. Unfortuneately it got stolen so I no longer have it and could not find this model when I went to replace it. How sad!
July 21, 2010
Cheap and weak!
Sorry, this camera went back to you for repairs in just a few months.
Now that it is working still not pleased with the screen image and it is too slow even as low in 3 Megapixel set up.
The contrast in dark areas is someway off. (either too dark or too light) when flash is not needed.
Thank you

Excellent camera
This is a value packed camera that is easy to use. With no knowledge of digitial camera's (old Nikon FTN film guy), I was able to understand and use all of the features of the L22 within a few minutes. It's compact, has many features, and has a good price. I made the right decision to purchase this camera over all the competing brand models. Already used it to catalog my household items for insurance purchases, as well as trips to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, etc. PC connecting cable makes it very easy to transfer your pictures to your computer and free up space on the memory card. Software disc that came with the L22 gave me everything I need to fully utilize this product.Love it !!!
July 21, 2010
Very versatile
Even though I had some issues with the first one they sent me, they replaced it with no fuss and my new one works great. I use it for recreational and underwater photography and it seems to work great for both.
July 21, 2010
This is a great product.
Since i got the coolpix i've had fun with it. It's simple to use, love the fetures it comes with. The software it comes with is easy to use as well, you don't have to be an expert phatgrapher or expert computer wiz to use it.

Easy to use
Its a fine and well styled camera. With easy to use type, you can take photo and enjoy your recorded memories.

Fantastic in every respect!
I have used several dfferent Nikon cameras over the last 20 years or so. Love most of them and consider them the standard against which all other cameras are built. Needing a shirt pocket size digitalfor trips to the theme parks, I took a look at the L22. It seem to fit all my of requirements just fine. Once in the parks, the L22 became a real tool. It is very fast, the auto focus is the fastest I have experienced. Being able to zoom while in the video mode is a real plus as well. Coupled with a 4GB SD Flash Card you will find that it should last you all day and then some as long as you take stills. Video is another matter of course. One of the very best perks is the fact that the L22 uses only two AA batteries. I was able to use the camera all day on one set of batteries, so it is very effecient. We now have a husband and wife L22's one blue and another red; don't want to get them mixed up you know.
You will not regret buying this small digital camera, too bad it doesn't come with the SD Compact Flash Card, but guess that is a personal choice and it keeps the price down a bit.

This camera has much to offer, yet easy to use.
I went to find a digital camera that was small
enough for carrying in my wife's purse. It was her
first camera. I had her taking great photos in the
first half hour out of the box. The LCD display is
large, bright and sharp. The scene modes and
auto modes make it a snap to take not only
snapshots but also beautiful photographs that
make for treasured memories. The images are
sharp with excellent focus and detail. The colors
are reproduced accurately. When you zoom in
on an image the detail remains sharp and in
focus--the result of a remarkably accurate auto-
focus system. This camera has a menu system
that is simple and intuitive. Without reading the
manual I was able to navigate the various menus
and understand the various functions available.
Looking for a simple yet capable camera that
produces great photographs, but has the size
of a deck of cards? Look to the L22. You will
not regret that choice ever.

Has performed very well. Picture quality is very good.

A budget priced camera with good results!
I am pretty much an amateur photographer and slowly ascending towards the professional stage. Since i dont own an SLR camera and dont plan to for some time, I decided to become a pro with the point and shoots.
I used many digital camera but didnt find them satisfying at all. Then i went for Nikon L22. The L22 has some great features like the 2 types of auto modes and a wide choice of shooting modes that actually do work for the environment you are working in.
The flash is also very good tool and so is the Macro. Takes some decent shots and the zoom in feature isnt bad too, although for a 4 X zoom you dont really expect crystal clear pictures but so far it has been fine.
The thing that is a bit of a problem is that you cannot manually set the ISO you require, it is set automatically once u go in a shooting mode. It would have been great to see that option available because sometimes you want to set the ISO yourself.
Other than that overall Nikon is a good camera for amateur or beginners in photography. The Panorama assist is a good feature that usually cameras dont offer so yeah try to make a good use of it.

This product takes great picture even 5 MP
I purchase this camera after testing it out in the store. I was impressed with the picture quality and simplicity of use. I wanted a camera I could carry with my anytime, did not take up alot of space and was simple to use.
After about 10 minutes of looking over and using different features I was sold on this camera.
I had this camera now for 4 month and it still amazes me on what it can do and the picture quality exceeds my expectations.

like camera but
I really liked this camera had originally bought it for my 11 yr old son but decided to keep it & give him my old canon powershot. Nikon L22 was really user friendly loved the quality of photos. But I had issues with the power button sticking. We went on vacation & on the 2nd day into vacation the camera quit working...luckily my son had brought the my old camera so I took it back! At the time of our vacation I had only had the camera for about 3 months! Maybe if I had bought a higher quality Nikon I wouldn't have had issues. At the moment I have sent it back to see if they can fix it or send me a new one. Like I said I liked camera but after only 3 months it quits working not good! I'm hoping if they fix it or get me a new one that it will not break also!! I would really like to get a better quality Nikon but can't justify spending more money when I just bought that one!
July 21, 2010
Works well.
The camera is easy to use, and most pictures come out well. The flash doesn't always work when I think it should, and I can never delete all the images after downloading them. Only about half will be deleted, then the program stops responding. Happened on both of my computers. I was able to delete them manually on the camera (one-by-one) and by going to the device on the computer to delete the entire file.
July 21, 2010
Camera seems to provide very good pictures.
So far I really like the camera. I am still learning all the features. I don't like the fact that the manual was on dvd! We had to print it so it would be readily available when we travel.
July 21, 2010
great features, easy to use
I was shooting product for my catalog when my other camera quit. I drove to Walmart, chose the Nikon Coolpix after the photo girl said it's the one she uses and loves. It also had the features I needed, which is primarily a good all around camera to take on trips, plus one to shoot extreme close ups of jewelry and kaleidoscope images. I use these in my catalog and to upload to the internet... so great quality is important as it earns me my living.
It was easy to use right out of the box, and worked seamlessly with my iMac. Shooting with auto works great, but there are a bunch of settings you can choose, like close up (I can shoot from a couple of inches away) to dawn/dusk and get some fantastic sunset photos.
I used the video a few times and it was easy as well.... literally used everything with just a quick scan of the instructions which is nice.
July 21, 2010
Simple to use and the pictures are great
This camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. There are more expensive cameras out there that do not have the clear picture that the Nikon Coolpix gives. I would recommend this camera to anyone!
July 21, 2010
Easy to use.
Super, compact, great shots and easy to use.
However, program to download photo's to me is hard to use. Was used to Photosmart Premier that was easy and quick. Other wise I am very satisfied with the product.

good ,reliable but you shoud work more on the menu
not very user friendly menu , not very intuitive work more on that

The L22 is a great camera
The Nikon L22 is a great camera. I have used it for vacation pix. at Disney and taking action shots of my grand kids at baseball and it has given some very nice shots. The menu is clear and easy to follow. The camera is easy to set-up and use.
I do not like the NX2 down load software. It is very difficult to use and I wasn't happy with having to purchase it. I think it should have come free with the camera. This camera is replacing a Kodak Easy Share model and I find myself using the Easy Share software for downloading and editing my pictures.

L22
Great product, easy to use as advertised. Beautiful close-ups without adding lens. Sunsets great-fantastic color & detail.
I would buy it again!
July 21, 2010
I like this camera alot. I took pictures of the flooded area around Plattsmouth,Nebraska. It is right next to the Missouri. In fact it is where the Platt River joins the Missouri. It was a sunny day, and I thought the pictures would be burnt out. They were not, they were beatiful. I've taken pictures of people too. They turned out beatiful. I used to be A Professional Photographer. The camera I used was a Nikon FM with a motor drive. I think this is one BEATIFUL CAMERA. Thanks Nikon.
July 21, 2010
I looked at a number of cameras in various stores, but from the minute I picked up the L22 in the store I knew it was the one I would purchase. The camera is very intuitive and easy to handle, and feels natural in my hand. Switching between the various modes and settings is simple and straight-forward, and the pictures are very crisp and clear.

Many new featuresTrip to Italy
Perfect. Video is excellent also. Pocket size and I love the AA Battery feature.
July 21, 2010
Love it.
I love the ease of use, quality pictures and and the design and looks of camera.
July 21, 2010
Very good video function.
My intent is to have a compact digital camera capable of shooting video, light-weight, easy to handle, and very affordable. The Nikon L22 I've been using for at least 3 months, almost on a daily basis, provides everything I expect from it.
If you like, or need, to shoot "on the run" - this is The One!
July 21, 2010
Lots of features
Got this camera for my wife for her birthday. It has lots of features, is small and light. We really like the view screen, nice large size so we can preview pictures as we take them. Just wish Nikon had included a real users manual.
July 21, 2010
I did not like the camera, so I returned it
1) Camera has "no flash" and "auto flash" options, but does not have "always flash" option, which is very helpful in many picture taking situations such as when the subject is back lit.
2) Nikon advertises this camera's use of regular AA batteries as a feature, but rechargeable batteries cannot be charged in the camera and the camera does not come with a charger.
3) It doesn't take very good nor consistent pictures, either. I used the camera at two different family events and could not get consistent exposure from one photo to the next. Some would be exposed right, others would appear washed out.
July 21, 2010
Not User Friendly
To view and print pictures requires several steps that my other camera (non-Nikon) did not. Also, I don't like the fact that there is no view finder. Hard to focus camera at times.

why do i get so fewer photos with my sd card than i did with my previous camera?
I have a 250 mb SD card and was able to get more than 100 photos with my previous camera and now I only get about 66 with this one. Is there something wrong with the camera or what should I do to get more photos?

Answer:
You are getting fewer pictures on this card because the pictures you are taking now have a higher resolution setting than your previous camera. If you want more pictures on your card, you are going to have to turn the resolution down to get them.Nov 25, 2011 by

I dare say you are getting less because the file size is bigger. When all said and done nothing in this day and age, I would consider getting something bigger, along the lines of at least 2gbAnswer:

Answer:
The range of aperture settings is f/3.1 - f/6.7, and the camera chooses the aperture automatically with the L22, and there is no manual aperture selection option. At the widest zoom, the maximum aperture possible is f/3.7, and at full telephoto, the maximum aperture is f/6.7.If you would like more manual control of your camera, then I would recommend having a look at the P-series COOLPIX, which offer the photography much more control.

My Coolpix L22 has lost the date and time several times now, even though the batteries are new Lithium batteries.
I never lose pictures on the SD card. I contacted customer support and went through the process of removing the batteries and SD card for over 24 hours and did a reset as customer support suggested. I also reformated my SD card which is a SanDisk SD card on your approved list.
Is this a known issue and are there any software updates that might fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:
Pictures taken are recorded as images files. The size of the files and with it the number of images that can be recorded, depends on the size and quality of the images. Before shooting, choose an image mode according to how you plan to use the picture. See page # 74 of the User’s Manual.Ex. If you have the Image Mode set to 12M you can only record 2 pictures in the internal memory. If you set it for 3M you can record 16 pictures. Internal memory is approximate 19MB.
