The best point-and-shot 12 MP camera on the market
I bought my red L22 during a sale, but the camera would have been a bargain even at full retail. It is extremely easy to use and the quality of the pictures is fantastic. The only missing feature is a view finder.

I really like this camera. I would recommend this camera to everyone. It is easy to use and this first one to be compatable with my windows 7. Thank you for this good product.

Good Camera
My NIKON CoolPix L22 is a good camera/Camcorder. It is compact, easy to use and gives great pictures. The video has a AVI format which is not as good as MPEG4 format as far as resolution is concerned. Overall, I do like my CoolPix and will recommend it to others.

Was really impressed at all the features and the ease of use. The low light reproduction was amazing.. Shots taken at night with no flash were excellent. For the price it cannot be beat.

I would not reommend this camera.
I have owned Nikon camers for over forty years. I had another brand of electronic camera of about the same price range but lower pixel capacity. I liked it better. I get a lot of out-of-focus and poor exposure pictures from the L22.
Having spent many years with film cameras I really don't like the inability to take instantaneous pictures. In photograhing nature, including animals, it is critical that when the button is pushed the image is preserved in that instant. It doesn't happen with these cameras.

Very Good
Very Good.... Had all of the features I was looking for.... plus more... very easy to use... big screen.
The only one thing I wasn't fond of was the panorama shots... if you are looking for a camera (to take panorama's) this is not the one you want...
Vvery easy settings for multiple purposes ...
Over all excellent!

This products takes great pictures
I have never been able to take pictures. I was going to Hawaii and needed a camera. I found this and thought I would give it a try. It has great features and as usual I will never use it right anyway. To my surprise, these are the best pictures I have ever taken. Please try it.

This is the worst camera I have ever own. Works when it feels like it. If you have camera in easy mode maybe 1/2 of your pictures will come out. I'm going back to my old Kodak camera.

Four of five
I have owned a Nikon D50 for years and wanted a 'pocket' camera that would also record video. Unfortunately, the battery door latch broke after one month and this is why I rated it at only four stars. Nikon fixed it for free and I now have it back. I plan to buy a UC-e6 (camera to USB cable) so that I don't always have to open the camera to remove the card to work with new pictures on my computer.
I've always enjoyed taking close ups and I'm still struggling to find the right setting that will get the camera to focus on a close object. Static indoor shots are easy but outside close up shots drive the auto focus crazy. The 'food' setting seems to work well. When it works, the pictures are stunning. Distance shots have worked out well.
The video exceeds my expectations and really adds value to this camera.
I recommended this camera to friends and would again. It fills a special photography niche and it is a Nikon. That means a lot. Realize right away that the trade off for its small size is that it is a delicate little machine. Get a padded case immediately. Open the battery door carefully. Think about a USB cable to limit the number of times you need to open the battery door. Enjoy the camera.

This product has amazing features
One and only downside is that I'm having a problem with not being able to hold the camera still enough - apparently haven't conquered the "shake" feature adequately to keep from fuzzy pictures on the non-flash modes - especially when a tripod is not appropriate. Probably operator error.

very nice camera, takes great pictures. Love the color.

The Coolpix L22 Is a 5 STAR & Fantastic Camera!
Whether you are a "weekend snapper" or aspire to become a pro, NIKON is a GREAT camera to work with! The only thing you need to do is to commit to actually READING the user guide and then practice! It's ease of use and special features make all the difference in the world! I started with a Nikon/NIKKOR 1965 SLR (my Dad gave me), and finally started taking good shots. Then, the digital cameras came out and I never thought Id convert. (Now, cant see what took me so long) Since then, I've bought a few more cameras none hold a candle to the NIKON! My L22 allows me to take very close up pictures and wont let me shoot till subject is in focus. The battery life is very good and the buttons are comfortable/natural placement which is important for among many things, ease of use. I recommend this camera to everyone as I am sure you will love it. I have loved & lived with my Nikon(s) and sincerely believe in the Nikon Company. So much, that I would be a great spokesperson for Nikon as when You believe in something sincerely, you never really have to "sell" anything because it just comes naturally from 1 spirit to another...the energy...everything.
As they say, "Nikon Like NO Other"!.....Tatiana

Nikon L22
The Nikon L 22 is the smartest and easist camera to use, it even knows if you are smiling or not, or if someone blinked, it zero's in on people so that you can center the green square to the middle of the frame, very useful.basicly all you have to do is point and shoot, you can even work with the picture digially, lighten , rotate are just two of the thing's I love about it, Battery life is above average, I recommend this camera and am very impressed with it. Really great camera
I found this camera easy to use. I didn't have no trouble figuring out how to use it. (Of course, digital cameras are not new to me). I didn't have to install the program it came with. I can't really say anything bad about this camera except you have to use batteries. It is a good buy.

Compact and easy to use
The fact that my wife is the primary user of this camera is testimonial enough for anyone!
She is camera illiterate to say the least and can take great pictures. She is very happy with the L22 and I'm glad otherwise I'd have to buy her a Nikon S8000 like mine.

Broke at 9 mos not functioning at 1 year
The camera is easy to use when it is functioning. I bought this camera July 2009 in April of 2010 I brought it in to Nokia because my lens would no longer close. A week later it I was ablet to pick it up and it worked but from time to time it would act up. This July a couple of days after the 1 year warranty the camera was completely not functioning. I ended up throwing it out. I have never done that with a camera I have owned. I have always been able to pass it on to my kids or a friend. Now I am in the market for a new camera but I won't be wasting my money on a Nikon.
July 23, 2010
The camera is just the right size for traveling.
It appears to be well constructed and it takes
great pictures. I have added a 2 gigabyte chip
which gives me more picture storage then I
will ever need. Finally, there are more features
on the camera then I will ever use. Bottom line,
for the size and price, its an excellent buy.

can do the job
Nice pix with this one! Have only one problem with it, it has no view finder for outside pix..
When in sun light very hard to see what is on the screen, or to make any changes in the settings.

very friendly and easy to use product
Photography is one of my best hobbies. I purchased over 40 different cameras, fo me for my family ( wife+4) and gifts to friends. I tried many brands, the most commonly current on the market. Nikon, I find particularly friendly in terms of utilization. AA batteries are very practicle no need to charging hastles. Size and weight are convenient. Thank you for the right product.

I Love It
I lost my previous camera on a recent trip (in Indiana) and purchased my new Nikon L22 as a replacement. I just love it and continue to find out about all the ways to utilize all of the many and various functions. I look forward to many years and many photo's using my Nikon L22.

This is my 1st digital camera & It is easy to use.
I usually dislike mechanical and technical products, but I found I could learn to use my L22 very quickly. I used to ask my husband to take pictures I wanted, but now I am enjoying taking a lot of pictures myself. I am getting good results with this camera and am very happy with it.
July 22, 2010
Simple to use and not very expensive
I like this camera over my last as the flash reset time is much quicker. I have had some issues with the autofocus feature on close up shots not working, but this is a very nice and very reasonably priced camera. I find it simple to use, and great for family snapshots. I think my only technical change would be to have separate covers for the batteries and for the SD card. I remove the card often to view photos, and the batteries are in the way of removal. Other than that, I am very pleased with this camera & I love it in red-makes it distinctive!

why do i get so fewer photos with my sd card than i did with my previous camera?
I have a 250 mb SD card and was able to get more than 100 photos with my previous camera and now I only get about 66 with this one. Is there something wrong with the camera or what should I do to get more photos?

Answer:
You are getting fewer pictures on this card because the pictures you are taking now have a higher resolution setting than your previous camera. If you want more pictures on your card, you are going to have to turn the resolution down to get them.Nov 25, 2011 by

Answer:
I dare say you are getting less because the file size is bigger. When all said and done nothing in this day and age, I would consider getting something bigger, along the lines of at least 2gbAnswer:

Answer:
The range of aperture settings is f/3.1 - f/6.7, and the camera chooses the aperture automatically with the L22, and there is no manual aperture selection option. At the widest zoom, the maximum aperture possible is f/3.7, and at full telephoto, the maximum aperture is f/6.7.If you would like more manual control of your camera, then I would recommend having a look at the P-series COOLPIX, which offer the photography much more control.

My Coolpix L22 has lost the date and time several times now, even though the batteries are new Lithium batteries.
I never lose pictures on the SD card. I contacted customer support and went through the process of removing the batteries and SD card for over 24 hours and did a reset as customer support suggested. I also reformated my SD card which is a SanDisk SD card on your approved list.
Is this a known issue and are there any software updates that might fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:
Pictures taken are recorded as images files. The size of the files and with it the number of images that can be recorded, depends on the size and quality of the images. Before shooting, choose an image mode according to how you plan to use the picture. See page # 74 of the User’s Manual.Ex. If you have the Image Mode set to 12M you can only record 2 pictures in the internal memory. If you set it for 3M you can record 16 pictures. Internal memory is approximate 19MB.
