Have 3 L series kicking around in different vehicles ranging from L19 to the L22. They are point and shoot for the most part but do work great when you need them. For the money, and for "quick access" digital cameras, you can't go wrong.

Coolpix L22
Great small camera. Would not want anything smaller because it would get difficult to handle. Takes great shots, excellent LCD screen, takes quick pics using a high speed Extreme SD card. I own 2 Olympus cameras... larger & heavier with more features... but for the size & weight of this Coolpix you can carry it in your shirt pocket... it shines with photo quality & color. Very fast power on & off. Quality of unit/construction appears high... Overall I'm impressed! The only change I would recommend to Nikon is to allow user to be able to select the ISO (film speed).

Flash Use
I got this camera with my ultimate rewards from my bank. Didn't own a camera and needed something to use of my own. Very nice but the flash doesn't work like I would hope when the lighting is not right. However, when the flash does work it takes great pics. I'm reading the manual to learn how to set the flash to work when I want it to when I feel the lighting is not right. Other than that, it takes great pics.

Good but Iffy
I got this for my birthday, never had a camera before. I like everything so far, but i wish i didn't have to go on the internet to get the instructions, it all seems so complicated, and the video mode sure threw me off. I'm looking forward to see what other things I can do with this camera.

This is a far better camera than our digital SLR! I was amazed at the clarity of the closeups and the video is rocking.

Batteries keep falling out.
The problem with the camera is that the batteries keep falling out. You hold the camera ready to shoot the picture & the batteries just pop out! I received this camera for my Birthday & the first few times I used it it was okay & then the problem started. I need to return this camera or have it repaired. What do I do???

Terrible low-light photos
Bought this camera when I left my older awesome coolpix at home for an awards banquet. No matter what settings I used, I could not produce clear low-light photos. All were dark and blurry. All attempts were still portraits. Outdoor photos were great. Will be returning this camera.

Easy to use, small to carry, good results
I bought the L22 about 1 year ago. For the price, I love It. Pictures are easy to load on my computer. The quality of the pictures are good. .It has lots of good features built in.

This product dosent work...
I have bought a Coolpix L22 Nikon Camera, the batteries always fall out, most of the time it dosent work, and I HAVE to HOLD it TOGETHER with TAPE!? I dont think its fair, the day right after warranty was up, it stopped working, I don't reccomend this camera... ):.

the older version was so much better
I really loved my first cool pix - never a problem so easy to use - it was stolen and then sadly this newer version is a mess, blurry images, delay in shooting over-exposed images with indoor flash, and unintelligible modes with no hand book to take with you as you learn to use it. This is a tiring camera, I wouldn't buy again.
September 25, 2010
Wouldn't recommend this camera
I had a Samsung, before the Nikon, which was much much easier to use. The instructions, which have to be downloaded online, are confusing. I still can't use the video feature after many attempts. The picture quality is not nearly as good as the Samsung I had.
September 25, 2010
I take it with me everywhere, so I will be ready at all times becuase I know my cool pix is ready to record my memories.
September 11, 2010
I loved this camera for pictures and video recording. I dropped it once and it cracked the screen (won't work at all now) and Nikon is wanting to charge more to fix it then the camera cost brand new. All I have to say is if it's dropped once it's done so consider that when purchasing.

battery use is fabulous
Using the AA batteries made this camera a winner. I took it on a trip and never had to worry about charging batteries. The 2 AA lasted for days and days. I took aver 200 pictures and only changed the batteries once. This camera is very easy to use.

Nikon Coolpix L22
We wanted to purchase a quality, easy to use camera! We put our faith in the reputation that follows Nikon and we bought the Nikon Coolpix L22. I love it! It is definitely easy to use and if you want to take the time to read the manual, you'll find it has many more features that make it even better! I am also learning just by using it often. Now I have so many great pix of my boys and it doesn't take up any more space in my purse than my phone! Love the coolpix!

Great features for one day
We thought that this was a great choice when we bought it. We bought it right before a trip to New York. After using it for a day, the screen broke and the camera could not be used. We took it back to WalMart but they said we had to mail it in. We mailed it to nikonusa.com and they said they would be glad to fix it but we would have to pay. The fee was almost what we paid for it new. We will not rebuy this same
camera.

Can't beat the value!
Just returned from a 6000 mile vacation visiting tons of landmarks. This camera took over 1000 stunning pictures of everything from landscapes at MT. Rushmore, Crazy Horse sculpture and the Grand Canyon to closeups of flowers and rocks on the side of the road. Beautiful. Also worked superbly for taking pictures of passing State Line signs to document the trip from a moving car (thanks to image stabilization)! There is no other camera of this price that does so much so well. Believe me, I've looked.

Does not live up to my expectations
I was told it had a manual mode, nope.
Consistently over exposed images.
No control over iso, aperture or shutter speeds.
No hard copy manual.

Easy to use
I bought this at work with the recommendation from several coworkers. It was so easy to use right out of the box. Charged up the rechargeables I had from the previous camera and away I went. Takes great pics for an inexpensive camera. Great optics from a great company. I would buy this camera again and would tell all to buy it, if a point and shoot is what you are after.

Camera is fine, but no user paper user manual.
I bought this camera for my husband, but he will not use the computer. So the user manual CD does not help him and if I printed all 148 pages out for him, it would be bulky and not something he would take on trip or have available when he needs it. I would have chosen another camera for him if I had known that ahead of time.

Great so far
Have yet to get a lot of use out of this camera but I am very happy with the photos taken thus far.

great for first time nonexpert user
I took the Nikon Coopix on my trip to France and was able to use many of its special functions with ease---- "Museum Mode," deleting, printing photos from a computer, "T" and "W" views---- without stopping to get an instruction book out (I did skim it earlier). It is very easy to handle and I was able to turn off my flash where not allowed and shoot pictures for my friend, who could not do the same with hers. Also very clear photos, and easy to interpret symbols, like the "shaking" one when you need to hold the camera more still. Also nice size and easy to see controls. Got it as a gift and loke it a lot.

Fun & easy to use.
I love taking pictures of pretty much everything and this camera has been a joy to work with. It is very easy to use and I figured out most of the settings without reading the manual. The shutter is alittle slow and it doesn't have the Color Accent feature that I would have liked to have but otherwise it is a great camera. The large LCD screen is amazing for viewing photos and the continuous shutter is perfect for chasing my babies around.

I am beginning to \like the camera!
I like Coolpix L22 mainly because of its AA battery. Next, I am finding it to be reliable. All I need is to take more shots so that I know which setup is suitable for certain lighting condition. I have taken photos that produced quite a good looking photo. I am satisfied with the camera as compared to its class of prize.

Don't leave home without it :)
I have been using a COOLPIX 4300 for about 7 years or more. Love every shot and learned from it. I moved up to the L22 and can't say enough about it's capabilities and size. I also moved up from a D70 to a new D5000. WOW!
Took both of them last month to Oregan and took 1400 shots of family reunion and a 7 day drive around the state. Now I need a new poster printer to show them off.

why do i get so fewer photos with my sd card than i did with my previous camera?
I have a 250 mb SD card and was able to get more than 100 photos with my previous camera and now I only get about 66 with this one. Is there something wrong with the camera or what should I do to get more photos?

Answer:
You are getting fewer pictures on this card because the pictures you are taking now have a higher resolution setting than your previous camera. If you want more pictures on your card, you are going to have to turn the resolution down to get them.Nov 25, 2011 by

Answer:
I dare say you are getting less because the file size is bigger. When all said and done nothing in this day and age, I would consider getting something bigger, along the lines of at least 2gbAnswer:

Answer:
The range of aperture settings is f/3.1 - f/6.7, and the camera chooses the aperture automatically with the L22, and there is no manual aperture selection option. At the widest zoom, the maximum aperture possible is f/3.7, and at full telephoto, the maximum aperture is f/6.7.If you would like more manual control of your camera, then I would recommend having a look at the P-series COOLPIX, which offer the photography much more control.

My Coolpix L22 has lost the date and time several times now, even though the batteries are new Lithium batteries.
I never lose pictures on the SD card. I contacted customer support and went through the process of removing the batteries and SD card for over 24 hours and did a reset as customer support suggested. I also reformated my SD card which is a SanDisk SD card on your approved list.
Is this a known issue and are there any software updates that might fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:
Pictures taken are recorded as images files. The size of the files and with it the number of images that can be recorded, depends on the size and quality of the images. Before shooting, choose an image mode according to how you plan to use the picture. See page # 74 of the User’s Manual.Ex. If you have the Image Mode set to 12M you can only record 2 pictures in the internal memory. If you set it for 3M you can record 16 pictures. Internal memory is approximate 19MB.
