Not happy at all...
I got this camera for my birthday last year, and within two months, it just, stopped working. my screen will come on, but it REFUSES to display images, i cant even take the pictures and upload them just to see what they came out to look like.
It was a pretty gift for about a week, then i started having issues... the focus isnt all that great, and the quality of the pictures aren't what i was expecting froom Nikon.

Very poor auto focus
My second Nikon and, probably, my last. I have to press the shutter button over and over and over to get any kind of sharp focus. It "kind-of" works if you focus on something you want sharp, but not necessarily centered, and then move the focal point to the center while keeping the button pressed. It is utterly maddening to grab a great shot only to find that way too many are completely out of focus, especially group photos. There is no manual workaround for this issue.
Another irksome habit is the camera switches to standby mode far too quickly (25 seconds).
Sadly, this camera just isn't worth the aggravations and annoyances.

Camera is easy to use, takes beautiful pictures
The Nikon Coolpix camera is easy to use and takes beautiful photographs. There are many modes available and selection is simple. It can be carried in a pocket because of the small size and the color makes it easy to locate. I would highly recommend a Nikon Coolpix camera.

Not Good
Just like for other users, the battery door broke. Now it says that I need new battery, and it won't work. The biggest waste of money.

Disappointment
To Whom This May Concern,
The one thing I don't like about this product is everytime I go to use it, the batteries are dead and and it shows Battery Exhausted so what good is it. The last time I bought a camera you charged the battery and it would last for a long time. Because this camerra is this way I just about use it.

This camera is poorly designed
I purchased this camera before my daughter's wedding. I picked it up to take a picture and it dropped out of my hands and fell a few inches to the table. Generally, that would not be a problem with most cameras. However, it hit on the corner of the battery door just enough to dislodge the clip holding the door shut. Here's where the problem is - the door doesn't stay shut, and if I tape it shut I can't get to the memory card. STUPID DESIGN AND A WASTE OF MY MONEY! Very dissappointed in Nikon that they would make such a POORLY designed product.

Bad Battery Door
Do not buy this camera. Camera its self is good, but 3 months after purchasing the camera, the battery door broke. Nikon repaired it free of charge under the warranty. Now 3 days after the warranty is up, the battery door broke again just like it did before. A plastic notch on the latch breaks off. I also own the S6100 in which the battery door broke as well, and auto lens cover broke another time. Both within warranty period thank goodness.

Love, love, love, love, love this camera!!! By far, the BEST CAMERA i have EVER purchased. To potential buyers, you WILL NOT be disappointed in this product!!!!

fantastic quality
This is the best little camera I have ever purchased for the purchase price I paid. So much quality and value for the buck!

I've owned several, don't make my mistake
The camera is good, but the battery door always breaks and Nikon then says that you impacted the camera. Avoid this camera!

Died an early death
I had only used the camera a few times when it failed after downloading pictures. The camera locked into download mode and would not return to picture mode. Tried all resets, etc., to no avail. My wife has the L20 and has experienced no problems with it for two years.

Great features, good quality
This is the first Nikon I have bought, and I like it! I have had this camera for about a year and a half. Some pictures turn out blurry and some off color, but I adjust the flash/lighting and all is well again. I just wanted something simple and easy to use, and this camera reaches beyond my expectations! It's so easy to use that my 6 year old uses it all of the time! Now the sound on the video isn't very well, but this is a camera not a camcorder! I have been very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone who needs a good quality, low price camera!!

poor quality
I absolutely loved this camera at first. It has great features and good aesthetics for a really good price. However, even though it was very gently used and kept in a protective case for most of the 3 months I have owned it, the battery door is already broken. I called customer service, and they said this qualified as damage and therefore wasn't covered under the warranty. They cheerfully offered to fix it for me for more than I originally paid for the camera, but other than that said there was nothing they could do.
I am very disappointed! I had another coolpix before this, and had come to expect better quality from that product line.

Battery door latch broken in 6 months
I have a few Nikon cameras from Nikon N65, D50, D90 plus lens. I puchased this Point-N- Shoot just for the convenience to travel for business. It did take some good pictures. As you know I take care of all my Nikon stuff. However, the battery door latch broken within 6 months AND it is not covered under warranty!! Not Recommend and disappointed!!

I love it!
This camera is great since I just joined the photography club at my school. Sometimes it takes a little bit to get the settings just right for the subject, but after that it is very easy to use and the pictures come out really well! I would reccommend it to anyone looking to start out with an easy to use camera or learn about photography. Also a great camera for capturing people, not just for artwork.

I bought this camera for my 9 year old for Christmas in 2010. Very disappointed. Blurry pictures and can't focus expecially indoors.

Had high hopes for the Coolpix L22
Bought for my Dad (birthday May 2010). His Coolpix L22 seemed to work so well, that I bought one for myself in Oct. 2010. It was like two different cameras. I have poured through the user manuel to try to determine if I am doing something wrong. Very poor indoor quality pictures, colors distorted, lots of blurry pics. Lots of red eye. Lots of difficulty getting a clear picture...blurred pictures are a problem. I have taken pics with other people's digital cameras & our camera at work and not had the blurry issues. I am so disappointed. Would not recommend this camera to anyone.
June 12, 2011
The battery latch was defective and would open without warning, causing loss of batteries.
I sent for service and was told I would have to pay for repair. Since this was a new camera, I refused to pay for a defective product. They reviewed and replaced the camera.
I like the picture quality.

I like this camera so much. And I would like to recommend it to my friends...
May 29, 2011
Don't buy
Bought this at Christmas on sale for $89.95 at Amazon for my 14 year old granddaughter.... she used it 3 months and had it on her wrist and it bumped the door as she was closing her closet door.... Nikon wanted $103.18 to repair it... thanks a lot Nikon.... this was my 6th Nikon camera and I just switched and bought a new Sony, wow what a camera!

Takes photos like the pros.
I am very impressed! This is an amazing camera. This one takes photos like the pros.
May 22, 2011
Very Handy
I bought this camera while on vacation, it is very easy to use and takes great photos. The size is perfect, also you can view and dispose of a bad photo without having to download them to your computer first.
The only thing I would change is the amount of time the camera stays on. It shuts down on it's own a little too soon for my liking but overall a great camera. I bought my Son one too, that's how much I like it.

This is my third Coolpix and I have been pleased.
This is my third Nikon Coolpix and I have been very pleased with all. I especially like the Scene selections. Would recommend Nikon to anyone as a first rate camera.
May 8, 2011
Cheaply made
I received this camera for Christmas and 4 months later I noticed a dime-sized spiderweb crack in the monitor which I suspected was there (only smaller) when I got it. I always keep it in a padded camera case and had not dropped it or anything. When I sent it back for repair which should be covered by the warranty, I was told it wasn't covered and the estimate was high. This is my 2nd Coolpix. My first I had for 5+ years and loved it before the lens got stuck. I am so disappointed in the quality of this camera that I don't think I would ever buy a Nikon again.

Coolpix L22
This is the second Nikon I have had. The other was a twin for this one but had a different model number. This one and the other had the same problems...the battery door broke after minimal use. It goes through batteries vey quickly...
I am disappointed...especially after reading other similar reviews....
This camera now has tape holding the battery door shut....
Hey Nikon improve your products...your name is not what it used to be...sad...

Superb bang for the buck!
As a photographic novice I used other reviews to chose this camera. The size, weight, features, reported quality, and price all came together. I wanted something easy, reliable, and portable for traveling. I got more than I expected. This little camera delivers on all fronts at an unbelievably low price. It took me all of 5 minutes to figure out, and the picture quality - both inside and out - is quite good. For the not-so-serious photographer on the go, this is a beauty.

Nikon CoolPix L22 I Like It!
This is one heck of a camera for its' size. It zooms for close-ups I want with clarity I need for my purposes. It is small, easily carried, and simple to use. The battery lasts a good long time, I have not had to change it from running it flat yet, only as a boost for going out on a photo trip. I like it, and can recommend to anyone looking for a Nikon branded camera that is super small and takes good photos. The price I paid was just about $90.00 in December 2010, and it is worth it.
April 18, 2011
Excellent
I think this camera is perfect for someone who is looking for a nice camera with good quality of picture. It can record videos. It can also play back the videos that you record with it, but the sound quality is very low. It is a all around camera. It requires a SD Card or Micro SD Card.

why do i get so fewer photos with my sd card than i did with my previous camera?
I have a 250 mb SD card and was able to get more than 100 photos with my previous camera and now I only get about 66 with this one. Is there something wrong with the camera or what should I do to get more photos?

Answer:
You are getting fewer pictures on this card because the pictures you are taking now have a higher resolution setting than your previous camera. If you want more pictures on your card, you are going to have to turn the resolution down to get them.Nov 25, 2011 by

Answer:
I dare say you are getting less because the file size is bigger. When all said and done nothing in this day and age, I would consider getting something bigger, along the lines of at least 2gbAnswer:

Answer:
The range of aperture settings is f/3.1 - f/6.7, and the camera chooses the aperture automatically with the L22, and there is no manual aperture selection option. At the widest zoom, the maximum aperture possible is f/3.7, and at full telephoto, the maximum aperture is f/6.7.If you would like more manual control of your camera, then I would recommend having a look at the P-series COOLPIX, which offer the photography much more control.

My Coolpix L22 has lost the date and time several times now, even though the batteries are new Lithium batteries.
I never lose pictures on the SD card. I contacted customer support and went through the process of removing the batteries and SD card for over 24 hours and did a reset as customer support suggested. I also reformated my SD card which is a SanDisk SD card on your approved list.
Is this a known issue and are there any software updates that might fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer:
Pictures taken are recorded as images files. The size of the files and with it the number of images that can be recorded, depends on the size and quality of the images. Before shooting, choose an image mode according to how you plan to use the picture. See page # 74 of the User’s Manual.Ex. If you have the Image Mode set to 12M you can only record 2 pictures in the internal memory. If you set it for 3M you can record 16 pictures. Internal memory is approximate 19MB.
