COOLPIX, a Camera For All This is a great camera, and is perfect for all events. It is also very easy to use. I highly recommend this product for anyone who does photography on a small scale. It does what it is designed to do, with great quality pictures. Never had a better camera! June 29, 2012
Decent camara..but Battery door is faulty I had this camara for less than 3 months and I noticed when trying to put batteries in the door would not close, till finally I noticed the battery door was chiped. Wish I could have gotten longer life from my purchase. June 7, 2012
Decent Camera, but can break easily. I got my camera about 17 months ago. I accidentally dropped it for the first time the other day, it looked like it was ok, and then i realized a TINY little plastic white clip holding the battery cover shut snapped off somehow. Without that clip, theres no way to keep the cover shut. The batteries press against it and spring it open. Even Duct Tape wont hold very long with the spring action. Now I have no camera, and while i take the blame for dropping it, no camera should break after one drop, and no camera's batter cover should rely on a very tiny plastic clip that is under pressure any time the cover is closed. As for image quality, it works best with close-up mode, other than that its just ok. And with no view finder it really isnt worth the price. May 20, 2012
Nice camera, bad battery cover Got my camera as a Christmas present in 2010. Didn't have problems with it except having to keep plenty of batteries on hand. During one of my many battery changes I noticed the cover would not close tightly after carefully inspecting the cover I noticed that the tiny plastic latch that holds the cover down was broken. I sent it in to Nikon and with $41. I can have it fixed. What a crock , they make a poor quality plastic clip that will inevitably break and charge you almost as much as the camera is worth to fix it. Unfortunately this has turned me off from Nikon. I will not buy another one and if I every receive another Nikon as a gift I will return it. May 9, 2012
Battery door broke I have had this camera for less than a year. On Thanksgiving, when I wanted to take photos of my family for the holiday, I went to change the batteries to Lithium as I was tired of the short life of standard AA batteries and the battery door wouldn't close. I thought maybe the lithiums stood too tall, so I put the regular AA batteries in and I couldn't get the door to close. The photos are not sharp. The photos I tried to take of my sisters wedding came out poorly and this feature where you press the picture button and it takes 10 photos and saves the sharpest never worked. Incredible disappointment. December 10, 2011

My problem began when i threw my camera that was on the picture taking mode (lens fully extended out) on my bed as i got my computer to upload photos and very embarrassingly and carelessly I sat onto my camera, forcing the lens to be pushed back into the camera without pressing a button that would allow the lens to close on its own. I fear that i did great damage to my camera because when i press the power button on the top now, it does not turn on but there is a little noise that sounds like the lens is trying to open and allow the camera to turn on but it fails to do so. What can I do or wear can i go to get this fixed?

Occasionally a picture will come out like it is split down the middle with one side much darker and slightly shifted from the other side. The line between the two halves is very distinct. What makes it even more strange is when viewing on the camera screen, or as a thumb nail on my computer, the picture looks fine. It only shows the split screen when you click on the thumb nail or print the picture out. I will include an example below.

We just opened up my son's camera that he received for Christmas. We put in a brand new SanDisk SD card and we keep geting a message that the card is write protected. The lock position on the card is NOT engaged so that is not the problem. We removed the card and placed it back in several times. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. When we had it working, we turned off the camera. A few minutes later we turned it back on the got the write protected message again. What is the problem???

I asked this in another place on accident. So, my battery didn't say "battery exhausted" yet but I changed the batteries just in case. But now it won't turn on or anything. I've put them in the slots they are suppose in so that's not the solution. So, what do I need to do? Do I just ask for a new one?

I received my L22 as a gift in December and within the first week the battery door latch broke. I dealt with it and was careful when I used the camera.
Now the camera will not power up. This problem began a couple weeks ago when I would turn on the camera, I would get a "Batteries Exhausted" message. I would either turn of the camera and turn it on again or install new batteries and turn it on and it would work. In all cases the batteries were good. Now the camera will not turn on at all, even with fresh batteries.

I cannot find the correct keys to email pictures at a smaller size. My camera downloads to my computer in documents and when I attach they are too large.

Answer:
Option 1. Consider going to the Shooting Menu and select "Image Mode" and from the highest resolution (default setting) go to "PC-Screen".

Option 2. If the images are still in the card, press the playback button and while looking at the image, press menu and select the option "Small Pic" (you may need to scroll down all the options to view it) and you will have at least 2 options of smaller size images.

Option 3. Use the VIEW NX 2 software that comes with the camera or is downloadable from the www.nikonusa.com web site. Theres an option that says "Convert Files", click on it and change the image size to your own custom ratio and change between TIFF and JPG.

I hope this helps Mr. Anonymous.

Flash Lamp blinks continuously when the camera comes on. Then when I try to take a picture with the flash, it blinks again like it is charging. But when it stops blinking and I touch the shutter release the red flash continues to blink and doesn't take the picture. I am unable to take pictures with the flash now at any setting. I can only take pictures without the flash.

Hello, please help me soon as possible.
Today I bought the Nikon L22. I looked over the User's Guide Manual and I found 2 problems at my camera:
1) When I enter into Menu -> Settings I have a list. After Batery type I have Protect then Rotate image then 2 others Copy and Firmware version(1.0). When I want to run the menu down, after Batery type, the coursor jumps over Protect and Rotate image, and send me direct to Copy option. Why? Why I don't have available options Protect and Rotate image? Is something wrong with my camera?
2) In User's Guide Manual I saw that if I click on the Flash mode(Blitz) button on my camera, on the screen I should have 5 options (see page 30). On my camera it appears only the options Off and Auto. Why I don't have the others options?

I want to know if I should give my camera back or keep it, just for those 2 problems so far (day 1).

Thank you very much,
Andreea.

Answer:
Please take a photo first and then go to the option Rotate Image. In order to obtain more options for the Flash the camera needs to be set in Auto Mode. Please see page # 29 of the user's manual for the COOLPIX L22 for information on how to set the camera in Auto Mode.
