Great Camera! until battery door broke Love this camera, easy to use and took amazing pictures for a basic point and shoot camera. However the latch the battery door hooks onto broke. I did buy another Coolpix L30 to replace it because I love these cameras the door latch is basically the same design. If problem happens again I guess I look elsewhere. August 15, 2014
Broken battery door... Another broken battery door. Many complaints of a similar nature of this site. No response from Nikon. Too bad. September 28, 2013
Took Great Pictures Until Battery Door Broke I received this camera as a Christmas gift. I thought it was awesome. The pictures looked great. I was mainly using this camera as a back-up camera in my purse so I didn't have to lug around my D-SLR to capture those everyday moments. 3 months after getting it, the battery latch broke on the cheap plastic door. I tried taping it and that worked for a while. Now I am totally frustrated with a $129 camera that no longer works. Nikon should recall these. I went ahead and purchased a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS to replace this piece of junk. Canon stands by their products and are better quality. August 14, 2013
I have a Nikon Coolpix L22: How can Nikon use its brand name to sell this piece of junk camera? The indors picture colors are not real, many takes were blurry, the lense stacks sometimes and now the camera does not power on, I change AA that came with camera to EN-MH2 Ni-MH rechargable bateries and nothing helps, the camera does not turn on. No body think to know why the camera dos not turn on, when I call Nikon for help I could not talk to a person, I went to the Internet and I learn that the cost for repair may be more of the value of the camera, the Main System Board service would be necessary plus other services. After reading many of the Reviews complaining about the battery door lock I thing I will not repair this camera, may be I got the lemon of the lemons. All the good reviews that you got today may be the complainers of tomorrow, it's just matter of time. This camera was very poorly made, shame on Nikon, I will never buy another product from you. I have a Sony DSC-90 since 12/2005 and it is far superior in every way. June 22, 2013
Good camra Bad design I Got my camra a Nikonpix L22 it take good picture esay to use. The problem is the cheap batterie door broke while in my bag of all places. Now the batteries want stay in, because the door want stay shut. Really a dark cloud over a good product... IT'S A SHAME November 29, 2012

My problem began when i threw my camera that was on the picture taking mode (lens fully extended out) on my bed as i got my computer to upload photos and very embarrassingly and carelessly I sat onto my camera, forcing the lens to be pushed back into the camera without pressing a button that would allow the lens to close on its own. I fear that i did great damage to my camera because when i press the power button on the top now, it does not turn on but there is a little noise that sounds like the lens is trying to open and allow the camera to turn on but it fails to do so. What can I do or wear can i go to get this fixed?

Occasionally a picture will come out like it is split down the middle with one side much darker and slightly shifted from the other side. The line between the two halves is very distinct. What makes it even more strange is when viewing on the camera screen, or as a thumb nail on my computer, the picture looks fine. It only shows the split screen when you click on the thumb nail or print the picture out. I will include an example below.

We just opened up my son's camera that he received for Christmas. We put in a brand new SanDisk SD card and we keep geting a message that the card is write protected. The lock position on the card is NOT engaged so that is not the problem. We removed the card and placed it back in several times. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. When we had it working, we turned off the camera. A few minutes later we turned it back on the got the write protected message again. What is the problem???

I asked this in another place on accident. So, my battery didn't say "battery exhausted" yet but I changed the batteries just in case. But now it won't turn on or anything. I've put them in the slots they are suppose in so that's not the solution. So, what do I need to do? Do I just ask for a new one?

I received my L22 as a gift in December and within the first week the battery door latch broke. I dealt with it and was careful when I used the camera.
Now the camera will not power up. This problem began a couple weeks ago when I would turn on the camera, I would get a "Batteries Exhausted" message. I would either turn of the camera and turn it on again or install new batteries and turn it on and it would work. In all cases the batteries were good. Now the camera will not turn on at all, even with fresh batteries.

I cannot find the correct keys to email pictures at a smaller size. My camera downloads to my computer in documents and when I attach they are too large.

Answer:
Option 1. Consider going to the Shooting Menu and select "Image Mode" and from the highest resolution (default setting) go to "PC-Screen".

Option 2. If the images are still in the card, press the playback button and while looking at the image, press menu and select the option "Small Pic" (you may need to scroll down all the options to view it) and you will have at least 2 options of smaller size images.

Option 3. Use the VIEW NX 2 software that comes with the camera or is downloadable from the www.nikonusa.com web site. Theres an option that says "Convert Files", click on it and change the image size to your own custom ratio and change between TIFF and JPG.

I hope this helps Mr. Anonymous.

Flash Lamp blinks continuously when the camera comes on. Then when I try to take a picture with the flash, it blinks again like it is charging. But when it stops blinking and I touch the shutter release the red flash continues to blink and doesn't take the picture. I am unable to take pictures with the flash now at any setting. I can only take pictures without the flash.

Hello, please help me soon as possible.
Today I bought the Nikon L22. I looked over the User's Guide Manual and I found 2 problems at my camera:
1) When I enter into Menu -> Settings I have a list. After Batery type I have Protect then Rotate image then 2 others Copy and Firmware version(1.0). When I want to run the menu down, after Batery type, the coursor jumps over Protect and Rotate image, and send me direct to Copy option. Why? Why I don't have available options Protect and Rotate image? Is something wrong with my camera?
2) In User's Guide Manual I saw that if I click on the Flash mode(Blitz) button on my camera, on the screen I should have 5 options (see page 30). On my camera it appears only the options Off and Auto. Why I don't have the others options?

I want to know if I should give my camera back or keep it, just for those 2 problems so far (day 1).

Thank you very much,
Andreea.

Answer:
Please take a photo first and then go to the option Rotate Image. In order to obtain more options for the Flash the camera needs to be set in Auto Mode. Please see page # 29 of the user's manual for the COOLPIX L22 for information on how to set the camera in Auto Mode.
