Stay Far Away from the Nikon Coolpix S70 Camera
Barely 6 months after purchasing the Nikon S70 Coolpix Camera, I started to experience problems with the screen and the camera in general as follows :-
1. Screen would freeze up and I would need to remove the battery in order for the camera to work properly again.
2. A "System Error" Message started to apper and would not go away until I shut down the camera and gave it a few moments before attempting to take a picture.
3. I would need to wait atleast 1 to 2 minutes between taking pictures because if I attempted to take a picture too soon, i would get a message on the screen that reads "please wait, images processing".
4. Blurry and inconsistent images. ETC
There are additional problems with this camera and knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased it. It is probably one of the worst camera's that I have ever had although I have been a loyal Nikon Customer for 24 years.

this product has the best features
this camera is by far the best value. i bought at least 10 other cameras before finally spending a little more and getting one that is worth it. this camera has the easy auto mode that automaticly choses settings for you. the easy auto mode does a teriffic job at making pic the right brightness coloring foucusness and everything else. the zoom is absolutly awesome and it takes the clearest pics i ever seen by far. also all of the settings are very user friendly, and there are a lot of different setings. i very strongly reccomend this camera it is deffinitly worth your buck

fuzzy, poor picture quality
bought the S70 in Dubai airport thinking it would take superior quality pictures. I am very disappointed with image clarity. Mostly fuzzy pictures although I have followed all instructions.
Perhaps there is a secret to this camera but I am unaware of it. I had a Sony 8.1 before, that was far better. I would take it back if I could and I do not recommendthis camera at all.

Extremely Awful Picture Quality
I bought this camera from Best Buy and mistakenly did not open and explore for 8 days. I took a couple of pictures, which turned out gorgeous. A couple weeks later, the picture quality grew progressively worse. Every time I attempted to take a picture it kept adjusting itself over and over with stopping. All pics were blurred. I took back to the store and had to get a store credit as I was beyond the 14 DAYS return policy. I just got taken in by the touch screen.

This camera compliments my Nikon D-SLR...a lot of fun with interesting features...just the right size for your pocket.
If you have big hands and fingers a lottle awkard and I find the odd picture with my finger in the picture...have to watch the way you hold it. I suggest you watch the learning videos to learn it full capabalites because the manual is like the other Nikon manuels, very basic.
After seeing the pics I took with this camera friends want to buy one.

my s70 had some error issues, cause by a dent on the slideing lens cover which is not covered under warranty cost $107.83 to repair

poor picture quality
I bought the camera 6 month ago for my wife. We have been struggling to get clear pictures out. Inside, outside, moving objects such as persons are mostly blury. The camera use a shutter speed of 1/9 s. I have a 5 year old Canon IXUS, it uses always 1/60 of shutter speed. All pictures with the Canon are of better quality. I will sell the Nikon as second hand camera and buy never one again....very disapointed.

Upon researching this camera,it didn't hold up.
I researched it for my son and when I purchased it for him and checked it out, I had to get it for myself too. Well as i started to use it I kept thinking I was doing something wrong as it doesn't focus properly. I am very disappointed and would like to return it. My son would also like to return it. I have given it a great deal of time and have tried to get it down to clear pictures and have been very disappointed with the results.

Extremely disappointed
I bought 2 of these cameras for my daughters. They have small children and take many pictures. This camer is the worst. Pictures are out of focus. Our IPhone takes better pictures. I bought my husband a very inexpensive 12 pixel camera (another brand) and he loves the quality. Would like to return the CoolPix.

Fantastic!
There are not enough good things I can say about this camera. I spent years taking pics with my 35mm SLR. For whatever reason, gradually I let it slide. When I decided to start up again, I knew I had to buy a digital, but I had no idea where to strat. I saw the commercial with Ashton Kutcher and thought I would take a chance. I am so happy I did. The things this camera can do are astounding! It is amazingly versatile. For the price, it cannot be beat. Most importantly, the picture quality is just phenomenal. When asked, I have suggested this camera to all my friends and they are all in love with it. It has certainly renewed my passion for photography.

Less than happy with picture quality and handling
About a third of my pictures have poor color, the last batch, taken outdoors in the city, having a distinctly bluish caste to them.
Because the camera back is touch-sensitive, you must be very careful in handling it, as you're likely to inadvertently change settings, etc. while you're simply trying to manipulate the camera.
Camera lens is near the upper-left corner of the camera, making it very easy to get your finger in the way of your shot.
Lack of an optical viewfinder makes it difficult to set up shots on a sunny day.
I bought the camera because of it's good light sensitivity in the store (it IS good that way). But after owning if for awhile I regret doing that.

GREAT PRODUCT
I GOT THIS FOR CHRISTMAS AND I LOVE THIS CAMERA. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SCREEN GOING BLANK AND NOT COMING ON. I CALLED AND THEY SENT ME TO THE SITE INFORMATION AND I SENT THE CAMERA TO THEM AND GOT IT BACK IN A FEW WEEKS. NO CHARGE AND VERY GREAT SERVICE!!!!!!!!!

I liked the camera
I really like all of the features of the Cool Pix S70. The more that my family uses it the more we learn about its many different and useful features.
We were a little disappointed when the shutter release malfunctioned, but Nikon's Service Representative was excellent, and we look forward to it being as good as new.

Has great features, with nice wide touchscreen
This camera has an easy "auto mode" which gives superb pictures of all types: macro, portrait, landscape - and can be all selected without pre-consideration and yet, when focus, aperture, iso or any key parameter needs to be pre-determined it is done with great ease and allows a photo to be created whether such is to be a work of art or a casual snap of a happy moment!
It does take some getting ued to in learning how to handle the touch screen because you must have nimble dexterity to not only hold the camera without fingers blocking the image, but also to not touch the back of the camera inadvertently; the back being sensitive to touch-input and thus causing all sorts of unwanted action. And a further drawback, common to all cameras of the recent era, is the screen being a fixed part of the camera and thus making the lens input a function of camera position. If for example one wants to photograph a beautiful close-up, composing the shot would be near impossible short of flopping down on one's belly and getting eye level to the subject itself!
If the screen could be separated or slide off of the body and be rotated, their would be a little more freedom of shot composition that could be added. Overall, this is a good point and shoot camera with touch screen.

Pretty Goog
This camera is very small with large capacity for high resolution picture. The only problem I find is the camera is too slow to take the picture. Also , I already had to have it repaired after 5mo

Awfull...Not Recommended
Nikon is being helpful in trying to figure out what is happening to this little "marvel"...Most of the time (even in Easy Mode) fails to focus...Even mounted on a tripod in a natural light room fails to focus, even the image viewed thru the back screen looks blurred at 24" distance..Perhaps this is a "lemon". Hope Nikon solve this!

Great Point and Shoot
Touch screen is easy to use and the LCD screen is pretty easy to see except in bright sunlight as any LCD camera would be.
Only function that still has me scratching my head is getting the flash to work consistently and trying to take close up photos.

Great pictures and easy to use
Bought the camera last year and have taken some of the best pictures ever! Touch screen makes it easy to use and focus. Software included to download pictures is also great. One of my co-workers was so impressed he went out a bought one.

Sleek and Sharp
I love this S70 camera. It is so elegant, a Nikkor lens and a host of other modern digital features.
You may have to adjust your grip to keep your fingers out of the frame. 5 stars.

Somewhat difficult to use
Had a hard time holding the camera so my thumb or fingers were not in the way. I like the large screen and idea of the touch but that's what makes it hard to handle. The pictures were not as sharp as I expected from Nikon but I am trying to learn the settings and this may improve with time. It is not as easy as other simple cameras and takes some concentration to make sure it doesn't move when you take the photo. I find the shutter release sometimes hard to move without jerking the photo. I hope with practice I can get better. I just think that some of the other coolpix models are easier to use.

Good compact but touch screen not easy to use.
This camera is very small with large capacity for high resolution photos. Stability is good. Zoom is hard to control by touch. Sometimes touch is very sensitive and sometimes rather unresponsive. Amazing number of options and they seem to work well. Biggest problem is the touch control. Part of this may be related to my other camera being an SLR digital (Nikon N.70)
So not accustom to using touch screen.

Screen Cracked First Day
Bought this camera for my wife for Mother's Day. After charging she placed it in a padded pouch and in her purse. That evening at a wedding she pulled it out to use only to find the screen cracked at the corner. The dealer and Nikon have both refused to warranty it. It is in for repair estimate now.
This is our first Nikon and will be our last!

When we download pictures from out camera (Coolpix s70)to our computer (running with Vista) many pictures are distorted, discolored and have spots.
We tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Nikon software that came with the camera and it didn't help.

The battery is fully charged but when I turn the camera on the display is black. If I touch the screen there is a response. I have tried removing the battery for a couple of days then reinserting but nothing has changed.

I tried charging it using the charging attachment it came with and plugging it into the wall; however, no light comes on. I tried charging it via my computer using the usb, but it still will not charge. No light comes on, and it appears to be completely dead. I live in the US so I do not believe power in the socket is the problem. Also it had been working fine not long before.

i think i remember using it a while ago and then it dying on me, so i plugged it in but the light wont light up and if i slide the thing down to turn it on nothing happens not even a sound.
