i got this camera in the summer. it is graet to show off to friends. has eyerything to fix your pictures. Also when someone blinks it tells you. did they blink

nice features if they work
My 3 month old s1000pj spent 3 weeks in the shop with telephoto/focusing issues. Worked fine for 3 more months and now won't telephoto again. A weak spot in otherwise OK performance.

The built in Project is Awesome !
For me this camera is the perfect companion for my D90. I'm an outdoor serious photographer, and I always take my COOLPIX S1000pj with me to take those pictures after ending the shooting journey with my family and friends.
When the party it's on its best, projecting the pictures on the wall makes everybody goes WOW !
The MACRO feature it's also great.
I'll recommend this beautiful and fine piece of Nikon engineering to everyone.

Fun Stuff!
When i first saw the Nikon S1000pj commercial I knew I had to have it. It is a bit pricey but well worth the money. It takes excellent macro photos. Although the video quality is fair, the fact that it has a built in projector makes up for that. After a fun filled day with my friends, I enjoy laying in bed and projecting the whole day onto my ceiling... videos too!

product is pure fun
and I am impressed by the quality of the images it captures (for a point and shoot).. the fact that it can project those pictures is a neat bonus and I haven't tired of the seeming "novelty" of that feature in fact I can see times that the projector will be a very practical tool for my use..
I am a DSLR photographer in the main.
Thank you Nikon ... OH! I bought 2, one for my daughter 1 for myself. She likes hers as well.

A so so DC with a projector feature.
Monitor too small & not crystal clear compared with other brands; poor photo quality; falsh st too strong for portraits; monitor got easily scratched; can't get rid of the figure prints on camera; not wide angle enough; basic projecting feature; etc

Loved the zoom & macro
Pinks and reds not true color; always "faded"
Camera froze 3 times; lots of room on chip. Couldn't go to menu, trash, close lens, nada. Took out battery, returned it; worked fine.....
Otherwise, enjoying the Nikon

Good but far from great
The Nikon S1000pj is a great compact camera that provides many great features. One feature, however, leaves mush to be desired. The projection system on the camera provides just decent viewing, but only when the room is completely dark.
Like most pocket cameras, using the zoom feature loses way too much picture quality and the result is a very grainy print.
For it's compact size and ease of use, the camera is top rate. Overall, I rate the S1000pj 4 out of possible 5 stars.

Projector leaves a lot to be desired.
Nikon cameras do take nice pictures, good lenses. The projector feature is not very good however. After a couple thousand shots, my camera started having a focusing problem. It is being repaired by Nikon. I'm not sure why the focusing started failing. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

Good, basic point & shoot
Takes good pictures for a camera in this class. Lacks a viewfinder, has little in the way of manual override and no live or playback histogram.
If you want a camera that you can literally only point and shoot with good results and has a dim (but still cool) projector -go for it.

The camera is awesome
This camera is amazing. People are shocked to see the projected pictures on a wall. The quality of the pictures are fantastic. I really don't know what more anyone could want. I really use it more than my Dig SLR .

It's a useful camera with possibilities
I have used several Coolpix models - the 1000PJ is the most recent. It is a flexible model which can produce good images in standard situations and in some challenging opportunities as well.
The included remote control device is satisfying, and the included projector works well in dim light (use the ceiling!).
It suffers the lack of a viewfinder for bright sunlight, and lacks useful manual controls.
I'd give it a better-than-passing grade, but the Coolpix 6000 was better for me.

Camera takes better than average pictures.
Easy to use and a good point and shot camera. I thinking the projector feature is more hype than its worth. Just not enough light in the camera to project clear, bright pictures that are enjoyable to view in this manner. Other than a screen, the best place I found was on a white refrigerator.
There should be an option to plug into AC for bright projection capability.

Incredible as to how many features have been built into this product! I also have a Nikon DSLR, and have been in the industry for over 60 years, and I've seen many innovations, but never anything quite like this! Despite my closets full of equipment, I saw this at PMA and just HAD to have it! However, if I had anything to do with improving it, I would definitely give it a more substantial battery compartment door. That's a problem waiting to happen. Other than that, it's great!

Very good as a camera.The projector is not useful
The function of the camera itself is good, has some more features that my previous one, a Canon SD-630. But actually bought by its projector, which seemed to be the technological incorporated breakthrough . It is not what I expected, on a trip of 25 days in Spain, with 15 different hotels, taking pictures every day, I could not find a single white wall to project the pictures as it should. The hotels use colored walls or designs for decorative purposes, they don't have white walls. So this function is as an attachment without application, which I regret a lot. The price, therefore, is higher than reasonable.

Fancy camera, but lacks photo quality
The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is a lovely camera to hold and handle and the projector feature is very cute. But it is incredibly and irritatingly slow and compared to earlier Nikon models its photo quality is all too often fuzzy and lacking in crisp detail.

Good camera, poor projector
I bought this camera for the projector feature, but find that it takes a very light color, flat surface in a fairly dark area to show up. Picture-taking is great.

Good pictures, disappointing projector
The camera takes good pictures but the limitation of the projector to work with other videos is disappointing. In a couple of activities, being able to present the photos in a Big Screen immediately was really a hit.

Easiest camera ever
I love this camera - I have used it more than any other camera I have ever had. It is so easy to keep in your purse and so easy to use, very few shots come out poorly, only a few have been fuzzy, and I'm sure that's my fault. Even my kids are jealous of it - now that's really amazing!

This camera doesn’t have that feature. However the new S1100pj does work as a mini projector via PC, you connect the camera to a computer and project whatever's on the computer's screen.
