Great little Pocket Camera
This is a good little pocket camera. The lens has a lot of barreling from 3 to 8 feet. I'm a professional photographer so I'm probably asking a lot for $100. But it captures nice shots with good color and vibrance. This used to always be in my pocket until I upgraded to the S8000.
The L20 is a good point and shoot camera for the price.

I hope the LCD screen lasts this time
Well, I am on my 3rd "L" series camera.
L19 - LCD screen went out on me
L20 - LCD screen went out on me
L-22 - Let's hope I have better luck!
I also own a D70 and love it!
I chose this model as it still takes AA batteries and I prefer that!
After my 2nd camera screen went bad, I tried to switch to Canon but was NOT impressed with their product at all!
I love to shoot photos, every day, on my walk and enjoy sunrise and sunset shots!
The other camera did not have a function for that and the flash took about 5-seconds to recharge...very frustrating!
This camera has answered all of my "calls to duty" so I just hope that the screen lasts more than 1-year, on this one.
The LCD screens, on both prior cameras, lasted only about 1-year!
If you have the opportunity, it might be worth the warranty. I only wish it was offered when I purchased it!

Easy to learn to use & versatile
I still have plenty to learn about this camera, as I am an old school fan of my SLR Nikon camera and miss its zoom features and its replaceable lenses. With this digital one, the biggest advantage is instant results, leading to instant do-overs. Second, the color options are great--even sepia (I love that one). I recommend this camera to digital camera newbies. I do wish the zoom was better, however!

Nice, but hard to focus.
This camera was great at first, when I didn't want really well-focused pictures. But now I want a good high-quality camera, but this camera is so hard to focus! That is what I really want it for, and it doesn't do that for me. If you are getting your first camera, maybe this would be good, but don't expect really high quality pictures. Many times when I go on the closeup mode, it gets so blurry. Only OCCASIONALLY does it cooperate and take good pictures.

This is a great camera for the price. I love my pictures!

Learn Your Product
After doing what many folks don't, reading the manual, I found that I can make this camera work. In many conditions, using regular alkaline batteries will produce results albeit expending the battery life faster. You can upgrade your battery life by getting the more expensive lithium and Ni-Cads (or whatever).
We use this camera in sunny Florida and find that we have to lower the Exposure Compensation in settings that have plenty of light (indoor or out). Easy Auto with high resolution works most of the time, until you start zooming in on your subject. Then the camera algorithm starts to get in your way; you may want to disable the AF assist and/or Motion Detection, to overcome blurry pictures. We have also found that utilizing the many preset photo settings can help in situations where the Easy Auto doesn't cut it. I recommend practicing with the different settings and situations before encountering the photo opportunity you don't want to miss. This can divert frustration when you don't need it. For an easy to use entry level camera, this unit is pretty darn good.

Under water pictures
We took the camera on our Key Largo scuba/snorkel trip. We had purchased the camera with the under water housing. It worked great. Worth every penny!

Great gift
I received this as a gift for Christmas last year. I love all the features, especially the face detection. I used the camera at my Graduation in March from college, and my pictures turned out just as good as the ones from the professional photographer that was hired. My family got the shots they wanted without having to pay the pro.

Great llittle camera!
Has been used to take pictures of cabinet jobs that we have done. Takes great pictures. The only problem we have had is the little door where the batteries are, broke off. It is flimsy and if someone using it is not use to how it opens, it can be broken.

Takes great pictures and is very reliable. The zoom is good and great features.

easy to use
this is my first digital camera. i have had so much fun taking sport shots of my sons football games and also videos of the games. i have the camera with me all the time. every one knows that the are going to get pitcures sometime in the mail.

Good and bad
The L20 takes excellent pictures. It uses AA batteries so it's easy to get extra batteries almost anywhere. This camera is also a very convenient size to carry almost anywhere. The optical zoom is fair (not enough for my personal preferences). The digital zoom is pretty much worthless because you really can't focus while using it. There are some neat editing feautures built in to the camera. Again the photos are very good quality. If you can live with the limited zoom then the camera is a good choice.

Nice camera
This is a nice camera for the price. Does everything I need it too. No problems with my screen and I've had it about a year and a half.
July 23, 2010
Good camera
The stabilization feature doesn't work good. Besides that, it is a good camera for the price.

works after getting fixed
my cool pix 1210 laso had a screen failure. all I had was vertical lines, but returned it for under warranty fix and the camera was fixed and returned to me and now it works very weel. Takes all the pictures I need and has enpugh features to keep the amatuer photographer satisfied and willing to try new things. It is light and compact and goes with us everywhere

Great point & click camera
I've had a lot of digital cameras. The cheap simple ones took poor pics, the expensive ones took great pics but were far too complicated. This L20 is the best of both worlds. If you want to take great pics without a M.I.T. education then this is the perfect camera.

Great pocket camera
I have owned my Nikon Coolpix L20 for a year and I think it is a great little camera. I also two DSLR Nikons. I like this little camera just to stick in my pocket and go. Great!!!!
July 23, 2010
Good for the price
I've had my coolpix L20 for about 6 months and it preforms very well. The picture quality is great for every day use.It has a nice zoom function. almost anyone that wants a good inexpencive camera that takes very good pictures should think about buying this one. I really enjoy my L20 and I know you will too.

good for what it is
pros: starts fast, good selection of preset menus, good macro, decent viewing in bright light.
cons: slow writing to the card, not sharp at long distances or infinity.
this camera is better than other P&S I own for shooting 15-20 foot range. at 125 feet + the resulting image pixelates some. while the files and image size are large enough for 16x20 prints i haven't had any made yet due to that.
you need to be careful and watch the exposure time. the times the camera picks are often real slow and hand shake will mess your shots up. small aperture isn't much use for DOF if you move the camera. and most users aren't going to have a tripod or monopod with them.
all that said for a 10MP camera at a reasonable price I'd recommend it.
July 23, 2010
Easy to use
I have this camera for almost 2 years and have gotten great pictures. Easy to download to my computer and later save to CD for safe keeping.
July 23, 2010
Good camera, great price
I bought this camera to replace a kodak digital that was gobbling up batteries. I like it for its small size, large LCD screen, and features. It takes great pictures, provides excellent battery life, and is easy to use. A few things that I dislike are the difficulty in removing the CD card, and the tricky little cover for the USB cable connections.

Great Snapshoter
We picked this camera up becasue we forgot our 5100 at home when we traveled for a family wedding. For the past year it has been reliable. I like the fact that all you have to do is change the AA batteries instead of lugging around a dedicated charger. The photos are sharp and we are glad we invested in a large memory card.
July 23, 2010
great features...
has great features, it is tough to figure out sometimes which option to choose for different lighting settings.....but i love my camera!!

Cost
Had mine for about a year. Carry it to work every day. Good camera for price. Bought a AA charger and 4 rechargable batteries, no problems.
July 23, 2010
Very satisfied
For the price, I think it is a great camera. I have had no bad expirience with 'red'. In fact I recommended it to three of my friends, and two of them bought this camera and are happy with it.

Answer:
Those are the password protected by you only if you dont know the passowrd then please connect only memory card to computer using camera or all in one card reader and then right click of your media card and click format.Answer:
You have set the Protect option in a few images to avoid accidental deletion. You will notice this because a little key will show in each photo. To get this option disable you press MENU > SETUP > PROTECT (see page# 100 of the user's manual).
Answer:
You should be able to find a menu for locking the pics somewhere in the display, it is not easy to find so may take some time. If they are stored on an SD card, the little slide button on the side of the card may be "locked.Has staff answer

Can you explain exact problem having with your camera? if it's not starting then it means there has some carbon particals has occupied your battery place, clean camera battery terminals very carefully and then try to use new camera batteries. if you are using old chargable batteries then might possiblities that battery has drained and out of charge. Replace batteries and check again. Please insert memory card into your camera and then take snaps so you can get atleast more pictures.
Answer:
To ensure that the camera shows the correct battery level and proper functionality, choose the type of batteries you are using. See page # 105 of the User's Manual of your camera.Go to MENU > Setup > Battery Type.

Please cross check wheather your memory card has write protected or may be virus infected. Just try to access that card using computer and scan using license antivirus updated software and after scan completes please right click on your media card from my computer and check the properties for size of card and utilization of card to calculate free space in it.Try another card as well to cross verify.
Please also check the default image store location, if it's deafult to camera then you shoud have to change it to memory card.

Have you formatted the card in camera before using it.1 year, 3 months ago
