Customizable Touch Panel Display enables easy operation with a choice of three different Home displays, and you can even write a personal message on your photos with the included stylus. Conventional buttons, with the exception of the on/off switch and the shutter release, are all accessed via the touch panel making it easier than ever to access all the camera controls.

New Retouch Function allows you to paint a frame, add hand written memos in 5 different pen colors and thicknesses, attach stamps to a picture and so much more.  The camera saves the painted picture and will also retain the original untouched picture.

Slim, Stylish, Metal All-New Wave Surface Design has a high brightness metallic coating that retains a beautiful pearl-like finish.  The sleek design fits easily into any pocket or purse.

Smile Shutter and Blink Warning makes sure you’ll always catch the decisive moment when your subject smiles. Blink warning will let you know when your subject’s eyes are closed so you can retake your picture.

Nikon Image Innovations include: In-Camera Red-Eye Fix™, which will automatically look for and fix most instances of red-eye. You may never see red-eyes again!  Face Priority AF is Nikon’s face-finding technology that quickly finds and focuses on up to 12 faces in a group portrait.  D-Lighting will rescue those photos that are too dark for printing by enhancing the underexposed areas of the picture while not touching the properly exposed areas.

High Quality TV Movies with Sound is now just a press of a button away with your COOLPIX.  Record TV-quality movies with sound; duration is limited only by the available space on your SD/SDHC card.  Connect your camera to your TV and you have instant home-movies.

This camera is a good for beginner. I know this camera is a little old but it takes great pictures during day & night. August 8, 2010
Amazing macro mode ... BAD video . I got this camera Christmas 08 . I asked my parents for it since it looks so sleek&has a touchscreen . I still really like it but here's a few pros&cons : PRO : beautiful looking . Gorgeous outside pictures . Macro mode [ focus ] which helps takes really nice nature pictures . rechargeable [no batteries] . you can draw on the pictures&add stamps . It has a few different effects [ B&W , sepia ect. ] . Pretty good for taking portraits of people . Zoom . Self timer . different flash modes . you can customize the home page . Comes in many different colors [ i have the red one ] . Comes with a wrist strap . Has SO many picture settings [ fireworks , nighttime , sunset , landscape ect.] CON : VERY VERYYYY grainy videos inside . not very good pictures inside . Freezes a lot . you have to get used to the touchscreen . Overall i really like this camera . But it's because of the V E R Y grainy videos inside that i gave it not a very good score . okay I've had this camera for about 2 years now. I was so excited when I first got it thinking that it was going to be a step up from my previous camera. I have to say, though, I am very impressed with the photo quality when taking pictures outside in natural lighting; great color and pretty sharp. However, when taking pictures indoors or at night, the photo quality is terrible. If you take pictures indoors without the flash, the pictures turn somewhat orange. I have tried all the settings to try to fix this but it just keeps happening. Also, the ISO isnt so great either, pictures turn very grainy when it's dark. And one more thing, the video quality is very bad as well. The sound quality for videos is very cloudy and off and the video can get fuzzy and may also turn orange if you use it indoors. My first camera was a nikon but it broke after about 3 years. Then I switched to another brand camera but that one broke a year later. I've put up with this camera for 2 years and I am definitely going to switch to another camera brand. December 30, 2010
Was great, until I absolutely loved this camera, until, about a year old, it started taking just about every picture blurry. I could watch it focus, then blur on the screen as I press the shutter release. Extremely frustrating, because the warranty had just run out. February 27, 2013
worked great at first I got my s60 christmas of 08. It was amazing love the quality of pictures day and night. I always took good care of my camera i even named it camy this is how happy i was with it i kept it in a special camera bag never till this day have i dropped or damaged it. But as time went by the quality got worst and worst and worst i hate it. This is so disapointing because i know i never dropped it or anything so i dont know why it has horrible quality now. Would the EH-63 AC Adapter charge my camera battery for the coolplix S60? Or would it just power the camera for only as long as I have it plugged in? I have lost both the MH-63 Battery Charger, and the power cable for it. Does the power cable come with the battery charger? Either way, which one would be better to charge my camera?

Answer:
The EH-63 AC Adapter will supply you camera with power constantly (won't charged your battery, since it uses a dummy battery that goes inside the camera). In order to charge your battery you will need the MH-63 charger.

Answer:
Lithium ion batteries have a usable life and rarely last 4 years, so it sounds like you need a new battery. A genuine EN-EL10 will cost about $20.00.
Then again technology in small point and shoot cameras has come a long way in e last four years.
The choice is inevitably yours.
