Great little Compact! I have had my L18 for 2 yrs. It takes better pictures than the expensive camera my friend uses. The only set back is the zoom feature doesn't reach as far as I need it to sometimes. It is great for close-ups and has detail. I love it! August 24, 2010
Coolpix L18 I bought the Coolpix L18 over a 1 year ago. It has been awesome. I can take pictures that many think have been taken with a professional camera. It is easy to use and I can carry it in my pocket no matter where I am or going. It is high quality! Thanks Nikon! August 7, 2010
Great Camera I have had this camera for about two years now and it works just as well as the day I bought it even thought it's been though the wringer (it's been dropped on its lens and in the snow many times). The picture quality is great and the battery life is very nice. The only problem is when you use the full zoom, pictures come out blurry and you can see the pixels. Other than that, this camera is great buy. June 15, 2011
I've been using this camera for a while now, and it works great. It's compact, lightweight, and easy to maneuver. The different settings allow me to use it for pretty much everything! I carry it every where I go! :D October 11, 2010
Needs Work Although I like this camera, it is not the best or worst I've ever owned. I do like how compact it is and what it does, but the thing I hate is how quickly it drains batteries. And even though the screen will flash battery exhausted, I find the batteries still test "good". February 6, 2012
Don't Purchace I've had the camera for only about 2 years before it broke. It over all broke when I dropped it, but before that, the shutter was getting harder to press and wasn't sensitive, there would be a lens error quite often, the icons/text on the buttons wore off quickly, and the first time I dropped it it broke. There was only a 3x zoom and the quality stunk. I HATE the LCD screen and the tripod adapter didn't work even though I had made sure to buy the right size. Didn't like the camera AT ALL! I do not suggest purchasing it! November 25, 2011

I was wondering if I could do anything to improve the speed between shots. Sometimes it seems to take forever even for the first shot after turning it on. I have tried w/out flash and it does the same thing. Thank you.

Answer:
Most of the time the shooting delay is caused by focusing. Press the button half way down (and hold it in) and let the camera pre-focus; when the subject is perfect press the button the rest of the way to shoot. With a bit of practice it is easy to get the perfect photo.

The red LED lights up, also, during this pause. I use SDHC Class 4 and Class 6 memory cards. What can I do to speed the process up. I've often missed good photo oportunities, because the camera was still locked (processing or saving the previous photo???). I've also been conscientious about setting/changing for the battery type in the camera menu.

I've tried several types of batteries -- all with the same problem: 4-5 pictures and the batteries are dead.

What do you suggest ??

Answer:
Please reset the camera to default settings: Go to MENU > Setup > Reset All. Also, verify that you have the right selection for the type of batteries you are using, see page #89 of the user's manual for the COOLPIX L18. If the problem persists you will need to send the camera and the charger to be evaluated.

I am using COOLPIX L18
When I put my Flash ON and keep the Anti Shake in auto mode the pictures are capture fine.
In the same way if the natural light is enough I put OFF the Flash manually and the Anti Shake is still on Auto mode but here the pictures come very blurry and not clear like it comes when the Flash is ON.
Please suggest some solution for it.
Thanks

Review

June 2008, Nikon COOLPIX L18 Review

by Daniel Grotta and Sally Wiener Grotta

Laptop magazine’s Daniel Grotta and Sally Wiener Grotta recently tested the Nikon COOLPIX L18 and proclaimed it one of the fastest point-and-shoot cameras on the market because of its quick start-up time. They later praised the L18 for its good looks and ease of use. The editors were also amazed by the easy-to-use video controls and superb video quality of the COOLPIX L18. The editors concluded that the blazingly quick L18 was a fun little camera with the ability to take great images and videos.
