Frame your storm photograph before it happens. Remember that the sky is your subject, so dramatic clouds are what you’re framing for, and then you hope that lightning will happen in that space. Keep the horizon in the lower third of the frame with the sky the top two-thirds.

Shooting a lightning storm can be exciting. Use a tripod and set you camera to record a long exposure. With D-SLRs, 15 seconds is a good start, but you may have to use up to 30 seconds, or bulb setting (where the shutter stays open as long as you hold down the shutter button). Because you never know when the lightning will occur, keep shooting for best results. And don’t forget the tripod! Otherwise you’ll have blurry photos.

Try different kinds of framing with your flower shots. Instead of centering the flower, try placing it off to the left or the right of the frame. This will allow for you to be creative with the negative space (areas without the subject). Look for the patterns of other out of focus flowers in the background.

Great edge to edge sharpness and color I've owned a lot of great Nikkor lenses. This one is a step up in sharpness and color. It will be my "go to" lens for 80 % of my photography. I have never seen better 35mm sharpness. Large prints will not be a challenge. The weight is easily managable, as well. June 9, 2011

The beast is the best! I absolutely love this lens It's Always on one of my cameras or in the bag. General purpose standard wide angle photography and Portraits are what I use it most for. I have Lots of other lenses, primes, specialty and tele's but this one always delivers the goods! I use it far more than my super wides. Super useful range 28-70 f2.8 fast sharp and you could knock out someone trying to rob you with it LOL April 14, 2011

From 3.2 to 2.8 I get the worst chromatic aberration that I've ever seen. It happens both with backlighting situations as well as on every specular highlight and glare that are in my images. I don't know if this is something wrong with my lens or if anyone else has the same problem.

Yes, I do too! Lots of flare, chromatic aberration. This all started after I got the thing "repaired" for a sticking aperature lever.

Answer:

This seems like an overload of the cameras sensor photodiodes creating a spill effect into adjacent pixels. Since no real data is present for the pixel, and color is selected and it is generally purplish. When there is an unrealistic contrast, or when some or the entire image is not acceptably exposed. The image will need to be exposed properly to reduce this effect, and that will only occur when exposure is pushed beyond what is normally acceptable. Try re-shooting with a different exposure.
