Awesome features for an amateur Camera! My dad had owned my Nikon D70 for about 6years before me, when he upgraded, to the SMASHING Nikon D7000! I got his little D70. Itself is an amazing camera, just for an amateur, but when you compare it to dads D7000, it's a baby. But in general the features are good. And all around, it's a great camera. January 15, 2012
awesome performance hello i bought Nikon D70S 5 years back, i am a professional photographer, i like this camera very much, compared with latest only the problem is fixels expect that great perfornance. January 6, 2012
Good old friend! I purchased my D70s over 6 years ago and continue to share great time and memories with it. Works under all sorts of conditions and never failed to capture great shots. Would be considered slow by today's standards though, but overall, for a nature enthusiast, who really needs more than 3 fps? The intrinsic design flaw that keeps on displaying errors from time to time is rather irritating. Despite the newest generation of faster 12 and 18M machines I bought since then, I still prefer to cary my good old rugged friend outside when conditions get rough. Just like an old love affair! Great all around digital slr. Perfect for any shooting situation.Made very well for being produced in Thailand. November 24, 2011
I love it! I was going to get the canon rebel as my first camara but my dad gave me his company's camara and I love it! It takes a while to take a picture though, you have to hold down the button for a while. I have lots of great shots, I need to find a program like photoshop but not as expensive. It's kind of hard to though. There are lots of settings to manage with. November 16, 2011

PDN Online, May 2005

May 1, 2005 | May 2005, D70s D-SLR | Joe Farace

In his review of the Nikon D70s, Joe Farace calls the D70s “a must for Nikon shooters looking for a digital backup, or an introduction to the digital world.” He praises the camera for many of its features, from its compatibility with 90 percent of all Nikon F-mount lenses to its wonderful color capture, stating that “images came out beautifully crisp.” He continues to applaud the camera’s kit lens, the 18-70mm DX Nikkor, calling it a “great lens for the money.” Farace concludes that the camera “combines image quality capture” and “has a budget-friendly price tag.”

Peterson's Photographic, September 2005

September 2005, D70s D-SLR | Mike Stensvold

Peterson’s Photographic magazine calls the D70s an “upgraded affordable digital SLR.” They were impressed that the D70s looked like its predecessor, the D70, but has some very nice improvements. The five auto focus areas were found to be helpful - especially the ease of the AF mode. Reviewer Mike Stensvold also found the Lock on feature to be “terrific.” Furthermore, Stensvold felt he could get the best exposures in any shooting situation using the three metering systems. Other features applauded were the extremely short start up time, white balance, image quality, and variety of compression levels. Lastly, Stensvold noted, “the camera has a good, solid feel and the controls are well located and easy to use. The large LCD monitor is excellent.” Overall, he rated it a 4.5 out of 5.

Popular Photography, July 2005

May 1, 2005 | July 2005, D70s D-SLR | Michael J. McNamara

Popular Photography and Imaging tested the new D70s to see if it could compete with its predecessor, the D70, their Camera of the Year in 2004. Michael J. McNamara praises the improved 5-point AF system, the more powerful battery, its excellent image quality, and the improved I-TTL flash, in addition to the modifications on the back. Overall, he feels that “the D70s' new features and tweaks have certainly made it a better DSLR and still a top choice.”
