Using MH-61 charger This charger works just fine and there is nothing to complain about. It's fast and reliable. Few words about light indicator: glows (battery not inserted) - charger plugged in, ready to work blinking (battery inserted) - battery recharging glows (battery inserted) - charging is complete, battery is full, ready to be removed flickers (battery inserted) - temperature is outside the designated range or there is a battery malfunction - unplug the charger immediately! Easy to use The Nikon MH-61 battery charger seems easy to use. However, I would have liked to have a little more documentation with the product -- for example, an explanation of what the color of the light indicator means. March 27, 2011

I stand corrected, the charger that came with my D3100 does not have a cord, I was going off that on my answer.

Answer:
I don't believe it does, mine did not. So an outlet that can accommodate the plug has to be found, which can be a pain. If sold outside the U.S. it should have an adaptor.

The electric outlets in Tanzania are 220-240 volts 50 Hz with 3 rectangular prongs. Can I plug the MH-61 charger directly into a Tanzanian outlet if I have an adapter for the 3 to 2 prongs, or do I need a converter (transformer) to step the voltage down to 120 volts? The charger has written on it: INPUT: 100-240 V with 50/60 Hz written on the back. Does this mean I don't need to convert the voltage to 120V? Thank you. Alice Fagin

Answer:
You will have to use an adaptor for the pin difference but apart from that it will work without other convertors.

This charger says it is 110-220 volts and 50/60 cycle. Does that mean it can plug into a 220 plug directly (with the right adapter of course)? I have a 220-110 converter but can I plug this in to a wall with only the appropriate adapter (American 2 prong to whatever country's two or 3 prong wall adapter for instance without the converter)

Answer:
The AC Adapter uses a dummy battery that goes in the battery chamber. You'll need a battery charger in order to charge the battery.
